Quality

Cost of quality.

Getting things wrong with quality (in design and manufacture) can lead to huge problems for organisations.

A good example is the Whirlpool tumble dryers that seem to be responsible for fires.

5 million sold in 11 years. The company ahs had to contact 3.7 million owners. So far they have repaired (corrected) 760,000 tumble dryers but there is a waiting list of 1 year to get one repaired.

What a phenomenal cost to the company – and that’s before we look at reputational risk and any liability they may incur for fire damage.
