Studying Management Accounting

The first thing as with any form of study, is to

‘DO THE WORK’!

This doesn’t just mean sitting in class, it means getting actively involved with the topic. look at the effectiveness of different techniques of study on improving learning (retention of knowledge here) in the learning Effectiveness Pyramid.

This is a bit alarming when you consider how much of my time I spend lecturing!

It does show the importance of self-study though.

Reading and Audio Visual come from using this website and the Facebook site ManAccInfo.

You should work with others in study groups to revise and  to practice questions.

Even better is to learn a topic and then teach it to your colleagues.

The maths in Management Accounting is usually very straightforward. A good rule of thumb is that the more complicated the maths, the less realistic is the answer going to be.

 

I’ll keep saying “Do the work!” as research shows that the main determining factor of success id ‘grit’, i.e. perseverance.
